Asphalt Removal and Replacement

Asphalt is extremely durable, but over time if maintenance is not performed, it naturally declines as hairline cracks form and deepen causing water to penetrate the surface. If neglected for long periods of time, removal and resurfacing is likely the best option.
Milling is one option to remove the old asphalt. Our experts at ACI will remove the damaged top layer of existing asphalt using a state-of-the-art milling machine. It grinds up the asphalt and is recycled, and then the new even surface is ready for re-paving. Curbs and gutters are unaltered in this process, so this is the more cost-effective approach.
The other option is a demolition; the removal of the entire asphalt surface, not just the first layer. Typically, this method is performed when the subgrade is damaged. This is a big process due to the amount of asphalt needed but is required in many instances.
Once the old asphalt is removed and the surface has been properly graded for proper drainage, re-paving can begin.
Overlay (Resurfacing)
Overlay (Resurfacing) is a long-term and cost-effective solution to asphalt failure that can prolong your pavement life by 7 to 12 years. Overlay may be an option when your pavement is showing signs of aging, but not enough for an entire replacement. Since no removal or replacement of asphalt is involved, the process is quicker and more affordable.
